Pink Grapefruit Diet : still on track

Pink Grapefruit, Split and Segmented, oil painting on paper  |  SOLD

Grapefruits are lovely squashed globes - never quite spherical until you unwrap them. I love that shucking noise they make as you split them apart, the delicate layer of skin tearing to reveal the juicy pink segment beneath and setting your taste buds tingling in anticipation

Still getting those delicious wafts of grapefruit permeating the studio - it makes a lovely change from molding trash I must say

Pink Grapefruit Seduction

Pink Grapefruit, Undressing, small oil painting on paper  |  SOLD

I am fed up with waiting for the tangerines to go mouldy so they can feature in the next Carbon Footprint, so in the mean time I am treating myself to a burst of pink grapefruit. If they get their act together and time it just right, maybe they can all be in the same picture - a fuzzy citrus extravaganza

This is that seductive first spiral, when you dare to imagine that just this once you might get the whole peel off all in one go. Right before it breaks as usual Grapefruit skin is just too thick to create a slinky spiral The zetsy perfume wafting through the studio right now is quite seductive too.

How do you Kill a Zombie Tangerine?

Tangerine Segment, oil painting 8x10
Tangerine Segment, oil painting 8x10

I thought I would continue painting zesty tangerines this month whilst they are still fresh-ish

Then, once the inevitable mold takes over, I can break out the charcoal for a Carbon Footprint drawing, with maybe a little green pastel for the fur coat

But  I can't believe they are lasting this long! I have three more paintings drying on the easel They just won't die

A Dusty Cluster - new still life oil painting

A Dusty Cluster - still life oil painting of juicy grapes  |  20" x 16"

Another of the summer's juicy new paintings finally hit the scanner this week.

Juicy red burgundy merging with deep black purple, the dusty lavender bloom and golden highlights - such fun to try and capture. And at 20" x 16' these are grapes are a monster vintage!

Luscious Fruits of the Summer

Cherry Kiss - small still life oil painting

The fruits of  this summer's painting spree will be making their public debut at the Lions Club fundraiser this week. Last year was a terrific evening - great food, splendid amounts of wine and lots of great new artists to meet

Juicy new oil painting : Summer Fruit

Grapes and Cantaloupe, Sliced : oil painting

Boy! - painting those dusty purple grapes was fun! I am going to have to do some more...perhaps a whole vineyard. And that juicy orange paint was delicious to work with - such a zingy joy after lovely dusty, dark charcoal

To celebrate some recent sales of original drawings and paintings, I have treated myself to some celebratory new brushes and paint. Not quite as tasty as pie, but not so detrimental to the swimsuit fitting either!
