A Salty Reflection

I love the deep rich brown of soy sauce, such a beguiling mixture of opacity and translucence. And the reflection in the white plate brings out those spicy orange undertones

There are lots of good brushy bits (an artistic technical term) which I'm quite pleased with. I think painting larger is definitely started to have an impact on my small still life paintings, with more expressive brushstrokes and intense saturated color left visible for you to enjoy.

Olympic Size Clean-Up

It's a delicious irony that the athletic prowess on display in London this fortnight has inspired me to sit on the sofa for 2 weeks, glued to the TV. I am now afloat with all the tea and biscuits. All that idle hand time means I now have super clean brushes, so normal art service should resume soon And speaking of delicious irony, check out this amazing paper sculpture from Yuken Teruya. There are more photos and paper sculptures on the website,  so click the link and take a mini Art Break

I am getting some great feedback from the “Carbon Footprints” exhibition at the Park Avenue Club

It seems people are really enjoying sipping their cocktails and munching their posh nosh, amongst my inedible remains and dusty discards.

The restaurant is for members only, so call ahead for a good time to visit the show between sittings : (973) 301-8233

Affordable Art Fair at Montclair Art Museum

Sushi Spirals oil 4x2"

I am really enjoying painting these mini morsels. Up close they have an abstract quality, where you can enjoy the patterns, colors and brushstrokes. As you get further away, those patterns of colors and blobs of paint dissolve into a tasty little picture

Today is the Affordable Art Fair at Montclair Art Museum where you can meet 25 local artists in the beautiful Leir Hall Assembly Room.

All the art will be priced under $500, in fact these little Morsels are only $75 - so you can help support local emerging artists while expanding your own collection, without breaking the bank!

After you have enjoyed the Fair and the live music, continue your art fest with free admission to the Museum
