Charcoal Drawing of Eggs : trash art

Charcoal Drawing : Egg Shell This was so much harder to draw than I expected, which is undoubtedly what made it such fun, and may be why I get a calm satisfaction looking at the final drawing. This is quite a rare reaction for me. Drawing a satisfying picture is like cooking yourself a delicious meal - it's always tastier when someone else cooks.

I definitely need your help to name this one though, because there is a devilish imp inside me (lovingly nurtured by my Grandad) that wants to call it Great Eggspectations. Please save me from myself and my lovely pun-tastic ancestors, by leaving your title suggestions in a comment below.

Picture Description : This beautiful charcoal still life drawing of a broken egg is part of the "Carbon Footprints" series. Soft shading and delicate transitions from dark into the light elevates the humble everyday eggshell; creating art from trash.

Champagne Cork : charcoal drawing of rubbish

Name that Sketch I was seduced by the weird wiry twisty thing, twinkling on the counter and just knew I had to draw it.

The drawing turned out to be more erasing than drawing. The wire was so spindley that instead of drawing around it, I blocked in the background and then used the eraser to lift out the thin line.

As ever, please post your title suggestions below.

Description : A old champagne cork and wire lie twinkling on the floor, popped and forgotten after the celebration.

Broken Christmas Ornament : Charcoal Drawing

Name that Sketch : Ornament Every year, without fail, there will be a casualty by the end of Christmas. This broken bauble was actually laying on top of the garbage, when the light caught those weird inner prongs...they twinkled...and winked...and it gained a reprieve.

I usually draw from photographs, but the practise of drawing from life in an unfamiliar, fragile medium is an engaging challenge. I think there will be more.

Broken Lightbulb Still Life Charcoal Drawing

name that sketch #1 I see beauty in all sorts of odd bits and pieces of everyday life, usually just before I throw them in the garbage, something will catch my eye and that trash gets treasured away for another day.

I have been hoarding a really cool broken lightbulb for a while now, fascinated by its fragility and all the inner workings you never see -  just waiting for the right idea to come along. Then a Christmas gift of a book on chalk and charcoal drawing lit the  "idea" bulb over my head and I was off...

I’m really pleased with how it came out, with the juxtaposition of subject matter and medium; light and dark; high tech and the most basic materials and the metaphorical fragility of an idea.

Now all I need is a title.  Do you have any ideas?
