Well it's that time of year again - BANG! - the holiday end of year extravaganza is starting this Friday evening 7-9pm with the Member Preview. Don't worry if you aren't a member of 1978 Arts Center - you can join on the night and still receive your 10% discount on all purchases that evening.

AND the hot mulled cider is on the menu again! So stop by for a cup or two, whilst you enjoy the art at your leisure. No long checkout lines, no Ho-Ho-ing Santas and not a jingle bell within earshot. bliss!

The show is in its 7th year and is still the best place in town for unique, quirky one of a kind gifts you won't find anywhere else. I had a sneak peek as I was setting up my booth this week, and the selection is better than ever.

Over 40 local artists are showing small scale original artwork, include paintings, photographs, sculptures, prints, ceramics, jewelry, note cards, drawings and more. Whether you are looking for a stocking stuffer or a special gift for your significant someone, we'll have something to delight and tempt you. The Affordable Art Fair at the Montclair Art Museum, will be showcasing 25 local artists chosen to display their work and better yet - everything will be under $500 The perfect weekend to discover an emerging talent and pick up a bargain before they hit the big time.

I will have a whole booth of small oil paintings and , yes, there may be one of two juicy citrus paintings, but I might have to throw in an onion or two, just so you know it's really me.

Their terrific Warhol and Cars exhibit will be ending soon and admission to the special exhibition will be half price admission all weekend. PLUS they will be 12 vintage Cadiallacs parked around the museum for you to be inspired by the real thing.

Think "Blue Sky" for the Mayapple Festival

Lets hope the sky will be this crystal clear for the Mayapple festival this weekend.

If you're the sort of weirdo that likes to get up at the crack of dawn for a marathon, then the runners are assembling at 6am. For the rest of us, the Mayapple Festival begins at 10am - time enough for a lie in and a bacon sandwich.

Nature hikes and a frisbee competition will be taking place throughout the day. And if you're in a more contemplative mood a nature inspired Creative Writing Workshop will be held at 2pm.

There will be also an Art fair featuring nature inspired art from local artists - including yours truly and fabulous juicy flower photographs from my friend Joy Yagid

I'm really pleased with the way the show turned out at Maplewood Deli and Grill. The paintings focus on the simple, unadorned beauty of common fruits and vegetables, which works really well with the clean, elegant black and white decor

Come out this evening for some sipping, supping and shopping at Shop Sharey in South Orange. I will have some of my new small charcoal still life drawings for sale, as well as some miniature color pencil landscapes, giclee prints and note cards.

My friend Alison Oxman will also be showing some of her gorgeous semi-precious jewelry. I have been admiring her beautiful necklaces for a while now. I am always a sucker for pearls!

It is the first weekend for fluffy blankets and hot chocolate here in the North East. And as I snuggle in, watching the Grand Prix and noodling about the internet, I'm looking around the room thinking we could do with some pictures in here. You might think that an artist would have no wall space left, but I find it hard to decorate with my own work when it keeps coming and going. Plus it's much harder to let it go if I think I own it.

Some pieces are too precious to ever sell - my first colored pencil drawing "Stolen Glimpse" for instance. It's the first thing I see in the morning...well second, after a wet dog nose and early morning wash. And some much loved pictures I have replaced with high quality giclee prints - not quite as lovely as the real thing, but a darn good substitute.
