Chakaia Booker's feathery rubber teepee emerging from behind a chartreuse bank of grass - simply stunning in the fall sunshine. Organic shapes from industrial waste, casting dramatic shadows and framing views of the landscape beyond. Treasure from trash - just my kind of thing
And as the rubber tires gently warm in the sunshine, the pungent smell adds another level of enjoyment
Smelly Sculpture - marvelous!
Although the gallery show ends in December, the outdoor sculptures will remain until next July. I can't wait to see these in the snow...surrounded by daffodils...drenched by spring rains...bleached and weathered by the summer sun
